Our Journey to Sustainable Synthetic Sapphire Solutions

With Alpha HPA's advanced ultra-high purity alumina tablets and Ebner-Fametec's specialised crystal growth technology, Alpha Sapphire, a subsidiary of Alpha HPA, is pioneering the manufacturing of synthetic sapphire glass. Our journey epitomises groundbreaking progress and a dedication to offering low carbon, energy-efficient solutions to cater to the escalating needs of in-demand, high-technology sectors. Our goal is to establish ourselves as the premier, more sustainable supplier of synthetic sapphire to the LED and optics markets worldwide.

Crafting Synthetic Sapphire with Alpha HPA's Purity and Precision

The synthetic sapphire glass we endeavour to create is crafted using Alpha HPA's sustainably sourced, ultra-high purity alumina feedstock, boasting purity levels exceeding 99.995% (4N5+). Alpha HPA’s high-density sintered tablets, tailored to specific shapes for synthetic sapphire growth, are produced utilising a state-of-the-art automatic HPA tablet machine located in Gladstone.

Alpha Sapphire's Innovation in Sustainable High-Tech Solutions

In a world navigating the complexities of rapid technological advancements, Alpha Sapphire emerges as a symbol of innovation, offering sustainable solutions that redefine industry benchmarks. The partnership between Alpha HPA and Ebner-Fametec not only represents a significant stride in materials science but also positions Alpha Sapphire as a leader in shaping the future of high-tech markets.

Expanding Capacities for Future Success

The initial phase of our collaboration involves investing in the acquisition, installation, and activation of two growth units. The units are scheduled for delivery to our HPA First Project by January 2024, with sapphire qualification expected by July 2024.

Subsequent phases, contingent upon the successful execution of phase one, envision an expansion to as many as 100 growth units by the end of 2025, in two additional stages. The Nova Phase outlines a further large-scale expansion, involving the construction, installation, and operation of up to 1,000 additional synthetic sapphire growth units in Australia. With the Sapphire Project, Alpha Sapphire anticipates becoming a significant consumer of HPA from the HPA First Project in Gladstone, Queensland. Should Alpha Sapphire progress to the Nova Phase (1,000 units), the enterprise will require an annual consumption of approximately 3,000 to 4,000 tonnes of HPA.
